Plein Air Competition
Annual week-long juried Plein Air competition featuring artists from around the country who are able to paint in seven parishes within Acadiana. Previously hosted by The Shadows-on-the-Teche, the City of New Iberia will now transition into hosting this great event for New Iberia.

Schedule of Events for the Public
The City of New Iberia Plein Air Competition takes place in early March. Artists from around the country travel to New Iberia to compete in the juried painting competition. Artists are allowed to paint throughout seven parishes in Acadiana. The public is invited to attend programs and events scheduled during the week, as well as watch artists paint. Unless otherwise mentioned, ALL PROGRAMS ARE FREE TO ATTEND.

March 8: Quick Draw at 4 p.m. in downtown New Iberia

March 9: Paint Delcambre 8 a.m.

March 10: Free paint day (artists will paint wherever they prefer)

March 11: Painting Demo at 1 p.m. at UL Alumni House (600 East St. Mary Blvd, Lafayette)

March 12: Free paint day (artists will paint wherever they prefer)

March 13: Painting Demo at 2 p.m. near the downtown area

March 14: Paint Out from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in downtown New Iberia; Awards Ceremony & Fine Art Sale at 6:30 p.m. at Sliman Theater (129 E. Main Street)

March 15: Paintings up for view at the Sliman Theater until 1 p.m.
