EXAMPLES OF WORK:
-May perform general maintenance of grounds and ball fields.
-May perform some physical work indoors such as cleaning floors, moving furniture, etc. May assemble or assist in assembly of playground equipment.
-May mow grass. May operate a tractor or weed eater. Safely use herbicides.
-May pick up garbage, trash, tree limbs, etc.
-May clean drainage systems; may build ddrainage boxes, may pour and finish concrete
-May patch potholes.
-May operate a jackhammer, a pickup truck, and occasionally a backhoe or front end loader.
-Extensively uses a variety of hand tools, power and manuel.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
-Must be able to lift up to 125 pounds, perform strenuous physical activities, and have full range of physical movements including crouching, kneeling, climbing, walking, carrying, etc.
-Must be able to use basic tools.
-Must be able to follow orders.
-Must have a valid Louisiana driver's license.
-Must pass the sivil service exam, the post-offer drug screen, physical , and functional pre-placement testing.

WASTEWATER COLLECTION OPERATOR 1
$8.87 per hour
A PROMOTION/OPEN LIST WILL BE ESTABLISHED OF ALL APPLICANTS WHO HAVE PASSED THE APPLICABLE EXAMINATION(S).
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Performs work on a crew correcting infiltration and inflow problems in the wastewater collection system.
Repairs and maintains equipment at pump stations. Assists with basic mechanical repairs or maintenance.
Mows grass around pump stations and other areas as required.
Participates in detecting leaks through smoking the lines. Operates related equipment.
Keeps maintenance records as required.
Performs related work at the wastewater treatment plant.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to lift up to 110 pounds
Must be able to work in confined spaces.
Must have experience in manual labor work; preferably experience with pumps and transportation of fluids via pipeline.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must obtain the Level I Louisiana Wastewater Collection certification within a specified period of time.
Must have at least a valid Louisiana Driver’s License.
Must pass the Civil Service Exam, the post-offer drug screen, physical, and functional pre-placement testing.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
This is physically demanding outdoor labor related to dewatering, stabilizing and land application of sludge.
-Keeps process and maintenance records as required.
Trains crew members as directed.
Operates related equipment. Good vision and coordination is required; at least 20/40 in each eye and depth perception of 80 seconds of arc or better. Equipment involves operating gear shifts, levers, and pedals.
Performs some related work at the wastewater treatment plant.
Handles the most complex mechanical repairs. Performs maintenance on equipment.
Lifting up to 52 pounds and working in confined spaces is required. Must be able to perform a variety of physically demanding activities including crouching, climbing, bending, walking, sitting, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in mechanical and operation processes of the operation.
